Abstract

1,241,731. Determination of rheumatoid factor. KOWA CO. Ltd. 2 Jan., 1969, No. 401/69. Heading B1X. A rheumatoid agglutination test reagent comprises, in a buffered saline solution pH 6 to 9, (a) ion exchange resin particles coated with human gamma globulin and (b) either a colouring agent capable of colouring gammaglobulin, or a haemolytic agent. Cation or anion exchange resin particles of average diameter 0.5 to 3 microns may be used. Colouring agents exemplified are trypan blue, Evans blue, brilliant green; haemolytic agents exemplified are saponin, polyoxyethylene lauryl ether, laurylamine, "Miranol" (RTM), others are mentioned. The buffer is preferably glycine-sodium hydroxide. The agent may also contain preservative and/or stabilizer. Preferred proportions are 0.5 to 2% coated particles, 0.05 to 2% haemolytic agent, 0.005 to 0.15% colouring agent, 0.005 to 0.5% preservative, 0.005 to 1% stabilizer.
