Abstract

1,241,176. Tongue and slot hinges. T. W. OPHER & SON Ltd., T. W. OPHER and W. C. ROGERS. 12 Nov., 1968 [17 Jan., 1968], No. 2586/68. Heading E2F. Two members such as plates are connected together by a hinge comprising on one member 10 a projecting tongue 12 and on the other member 11 a slot 13 through which the tongue 12 extends, a part 14 of the tongue 12 on the side of the slot 13 remote from the member 10 being folded back on itself to overlie the material of the other member 11 at one end of the slot 13 whereby withdrawal of the tongue 12 from the slot 13 is prevented. The tongue 12 is a loose fit in the slot 13 to permit pivotal movement between the members about an axis parallel to the slot 13. Preferably one or more tongues project obliquely from the edge of the plate 10 and the end part 14 is folded back to lie at an angle to the rest of the tongue 12. The tongues may be joggled out of the plane of the plate 10 (see 12a in Fig. 2).
