Abstract
1,240,693. Automatic temperature control systems. AIR-SHIELDS Inc. Oct. 2, 1968 [Oct. 9, 1967], No. 46850/68. Heading G3R. The air temperature in an incubator is controlled by a thermistor 36 which through circuits 37, 38 retard the firing angle of a pair of thyristors 42, 43 progressively controlling the current through a heater 14 until the temperature is stabilized at a set point. Another thermistor 45 in contact with a patient, reduces the heater energization when the body temperature rises above a determined value. A switch 49-51 enables the heater energization to be controlled by thermistor 45 alone, which switch is also operative when a temperature setting resistor 38a is in the maximum position. An overtemperature switch 27, 28 disconnects the heater, sounds an alarm 33, and energizes an indicator lamp 30. Air is circulated through incubator by a fixed speed fan 15. Indicator lamps 52, 53 may be provided. A volt meter M provides an indication of average heat supplied.
