Abstract

1,023,571. Automatic temperature control systems. G.P.HARRIS and M.J.HARRIS. Jan. 24, 1963 [Feb. 6, 1962], No. 4447/62. Heading G3R. [Also in Division H2] An automatic temperature control system utilizes the heating element 1 as the temperature sensitive element. The positive temperature sensitive element 1 made of say Wiles-Wiggin alloy is connected periodically through contacts 2 to a normally non conductive transistor, which if the element is below a determined temperature and resistance conducts and heats an element 3 operating a birmetal device to throw contacts 2 on to supply contacts 6 to heat the element 1. If element 1 is above the determined resistance transistor 5 remains non conductive until the resistance falls. Heavy conduction of transistor 5 will open contacts 15 breaking the supply. The arrangement may regulate the temperature of air from a fan heater by a pair of additional contacts shunting a series motor resistor of negative temperature co-efficient when the heater is connected.
