Abstract
1,240,240. Crepe yarns. SOC. RHODIACETA. 24 Sept., 1969 [25 Sept., 1968], No. 47071/69. Headings D1F and D1W. A process for the manufacture of a crepe yarn constituted by continuous synthetic thermoplastic filaments is characterised in that there is imparted to the yarn a voile twist and the resultant yarn is then subjected to an operation of continuously overtwisting-fixing-untwisting, the overtwisting being in the same direction as the initial voile twist. The yarns may be made from polyamide or polyester e.g. polyethylene terephthalate and fabrics woven from these yarns exhibit the grain and relief pattern of conventional crepe woven fabric. The polyester filaments used are preferably multilobed filaments and the yarn is passed at a voile twist through a texturing frame for imparting hard-twist, in which it is given, continuously, an overtwist in the same direction as the voile twist; the overtwist is fixed by passing the yarn through an oven, and the yarn is finally untwisted. The yarn may be incorporated in a fabric with similar yarns or conventional yarns.
