A bearing 3, Fig. 1, for supporting prefabricated or concrete structural members cast in situ comprises a member 4 made of chloroprene polymer; a synthetic plastics or paper pulp member 5, which surrounds the member 4; layers 8, 9 of P.T.F.E. for example, which are located above the members 4, 5. The member 4 may be lamellar in a longitudinal direction and may be provided with a reinforcement 6. The bearing 3 is attached to a supporting structural member 1 by means of an adhesive layer 2 and may be provided with fibre-reinforced adhesive strips 11 which seal the bearing against ingress of concrete when a supported structural member is cast in situ. In a modification as shown in Fig. 2 the layers 8, 9 are sealed by means of an adhesive strip 12, the bearing is adhered to a layer 13, the latter being connected to brickwork 15 by means of cement 14. A spacer 18, having a self-adhesive layer 19 and notches 20, 21, is attached to the bearing and to a concrete member 16 so that, when the concrete is poured to form the supported member, it is prevented from contacting the supporting structure and clearance is provided between the supported structure and the bearing. In other modifications, a layer 13, Fig. 2a (not shown), is pressed into concrete or mortar 17; the member 4 is replaced by a base layer 22 of neoprene, Fig. 3, on which a steel plate 23 is mounted, the latter movably supporting a plate 24 of P.T.F.E. which engages in a recess 25 of a steel cap 26, and an annular space between the latter and the plate 23 being preferably filled with a deformable material 27; and the bearing is provided with additional adhesive layers 29, Fig. 4 (not shown), and a protective foil 30.
