Abstract

1,239,612. Photo-electric measuring. SCHWEITER ENG. WORKS Ltd. Sept. 25, 1968 [Sept.26, 1967], No.45592/68. Heading G1A. [Also in Division D1] A photo-cell 18 is used in an automatic winding machine to produce an A. C. current in response to yarn diameter variations. The current is amplified, and, if sufficient, threshold value switch 20 operates a yarn cutter 22, The removal of the yarn from the photo-cell either by yarn breakage or by operation of the cutter thereby removes the A. C. current which causes amplifierrectifier circuit 23 to switch off the affected winding station. The removal of the yarn from the photo-cell also actuates circuit 31 to initiate a supply bobbin-exchange operation. However, if the removal of the yarn is due to operation of the yarn cutter 22, a time-delayed switch t<SP>1</SP> prevents the actuation of the bobbin-exchange operation.
