A laminate includes a layer of porous urea resin foam between two fibrous (e.g. paper) layers, the foam layer being divided into sections and the fibrous layers being sealed to each other around each section. Adhesive may be used to seal the fibrous layers together or to attach the foam sections to the fibrous layers. The laminate may comprise a plurality of alternating layers of foam and fibrous material, adjacent fibrous layers being sealed to each other around the individual sections in each foam layer. The urea resin may be urea formaldehyde resin. The foam layer sections may be striplike.
