Abstract
1,239,166. Condenser systems; separation of gasoline from petroleum gas. BERTIN & CIE and ENTREPRISE DE RECHERCHES ET D'ACTIVITES PETROLIERES-ELF. 24 July, 1969 [5 Aug., 1968; 6 June, 1969], No. 37311/ 69. Heading B1B. [Also in Divisions F4 and G3] A pulsed gas flow cooling device (see Division F4) may be used to condense gasoline from gas leaving an oil well. The gas may simply pass through a single device, condensate being subsequently removed from the cooled gas stream, Fig. 14 (not shown). Alternatively, gas passing to the device may be cooled by indirect heat exchange with a branched stream of cooled gas leaving the device, Fig. 15 (not shown). Condensate is removed from the branched stream and from the main stream upstream of the device. In a further arrangement, Fig. 16 (not shown), the main stream does not pass through a device but is cooled by a branched stream which has passed through a series of devices. As illustrated in Fig. 17, gas is introduced at 32 into a cooling device 122. Cooled gas passes from the device at 48 and its condensate collects at 124 to be drained by a constant level valve 126. Gas passes through a constant pressure valve 128 to precool the main stream at 129. Any condensate in the main stream is drained from a point 130. A coil 135 fed from the main gas line may be used to heat the gasoline if it should be undesirably viscous.
