A heating installation circuit including a water heater 11, a pump 21, and a closed expansion vessel 13, is connected through a non-return valve 28 to a water cistern, and an air vent valve 29 is located at the uppermost part of the circuit. The heater 11 which may be powered by gas, oil or electricity is connected through flow and return pipes 12, 20 and manifolds 14, 14<SP>1</SP> to a hot water circuit including a regulating valve 30 to control the flow of water in a heating element 16 inserted in a hot water tank 17 fitted with a thermostat controlling a solenoid actuated valve in the circuit. A radiator circuit 151, 19<SP>1</SP> includes a radiator 18, and other radiator circuits are indicated by the arrow A. The pump 21 is fitted in the return pipe 20 between isolating valves 22, and the expansion vessel 13 is provided with a thermometer 23, automatic air vent 24 and safety valve 25. Alternatively the pump may be fitted in the flow pipe 12, and the expansion vessel in the return pipe 20. A pipe 26 brings cold water from the cistern to the tank 17 and through an isolating valve 27 to the heating circuit. In another embodiment the heating system can be shut off by a closing valve (33), Fig. 2 (not shown), when not required. In a further modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), a ball stop cock (27<SP>1</SP>) replaces the stop cock 27 and a regulating valve (34) is placed in the circuit adjacent the air vent valve.
