Abstract
1,238,620. Flame-retardant cellulose ester compositions. CELANESE CORP. 2 April, 1969, No. 46397/70. Divided out of 1,226,498. Heading C3F. A cellulose ester (e.g. cellulose triacetate) composition having incorporated therein from 5 to 20% of a bromo-cyclic or acyclic-aliphatic phosphate and also from 0À5 to 3% of a phenyl or substituted phenyl phosphate, both based on the cellulose ester weight. The composition may be in the form of a solution for the production of filaments, films and other shaped articles having an improved flame retardance by extrusion. The bromo-aliphatic phosphate may be tris - (2,3 - dibromopropyl) - tris - (2 - bromobutyl)-, tris - (bromohexyl) or tris - (bromocyclohexyl) phosphates and the phenyl or substituted phenyl phosphate may be tricresylphosphate, o-phenylphenyl bisphenylphosphate or tris-(orthophenyl-phenyl) phosphate.
