Abstract
1,238,490. Vulcanizing ethylene/propylene/ diene terpolymers. STAUFFER CHEMICAL CO. 29 Oct., 1968 [2Nov., 1967], No. 51154/68. Heading C3P. A vulcanized product obtained by heating an ethylene/propylene/non-conjugated diene terpolymer in the presence of a curing agent comprising a tetra-alkyl thiuram sulphide and an N,N<SP>1</SP>-polythio-bis-dialkyl amine, said amine containing at least five sulphur atoms within the molecule. In the example, terpolymers in which the diene is 1,5-cyclo-octadiene are vulcanized using N,N<SP>1</SP>-, di-, tri-, tetra-, penta- and hexa - thio - bis - dimethylamines, tetramethylthiuramdisulphide, mercaptobenzthiazole, sulphur, carbon black, naphthenic process oil, stearic acid, zinc oxide, tellurium diethyl dithiocarbamate and dipentamethylenethiuram tetrasulphide.
