Abstract
1,238,412. Coated paper. W. R. GRACE & CO. 31 Jan., 1969, No. 5434/69. Heading B2E. [Also in Divisions C1, C4 and C5] Paper is coated with a composition in which the pigment is a complex precipitate of an alkaline earth metal hydrogen phosphate dihydrate and an alkaline earth metal sulphate dihydrate having a molar ratio of phosphate to sulphate in the range 1:1 to 1:9 and having a particle size of 0.01-10 microns (see Division C4-5). In Examples IV and V aqueous starch-based compositions are used, and comparison is made with coatings containing clay, calcium carbonate, and a physical mixture of calcium sulphate and calcium hydrogen phosphate, as pigments.
