Abstract

1355323 Enteric medicaments SHINETSU CHEMICAL CO 18 Aug 1971 [19 March 1971] 38817/71 Addition to 1300696 Heading A5B [Also in Division C3] The cellulose ester-ethers disclosed in the parent Specification 1,300,696 are, mixed with a plasticizer and optionally pigments and silicone oil, used as enteric coatings for tablets. The coating may be applied either by spraying as in Example 2 or by flow-coating as in Example 3. The coating is stable to artificial gastric fluid (pH 1.2) but is dissolved by the more alkaline artificial intestinal fluid (pH8.3).
