Abstract

1,238,087. Refrigerating., LINDE A.G. 15 July, 1969 [16 July, 1968], No. 35457/69. Heading F4H. In a refrigerating system e.g. for the liquefaction of natural gas, the gas is supplied through a line 1 for gradual cooling in heat exchangers 2 ... 5 for eventual storage in a tank 9 and the heat exchangers are cooled by a refrigerant comprising a gas mixture formed from components having different boiling points e.g. natural gas or gaseous hydrocarbons and nitrogen. The gaseous refrigerant mixture is fractionally condensed at elevated pressure serially in the heat exchangers. At least one fraction so obtained is separated out in separators 14, 16, 19, is expanded to a predetermined pressure in ejectors 15, 17, 20 in which at the same time vapour resulting from expansion and vaporization of at least one fraction having a lower boiling point is compressed and intimately mixed with the expanded liquid.
