Abstract
1,237,600. Programmed control of injection moulding. SIEMENS A. G. Feb. 21, 1969 [Feb.22, 1968], No.9596/69. Heading G3N. An injection moulding machine has a storage arrangement for. measurement or operating valves comprising an integrated switch element store coupled through a logic circuit to input and output devices. As shown the output of a transmitter 9, producing a pulse for each unit of angular movement of a machine part or member coupled thereto, of an injection moulding machine, is fed through a pulse evaluator 10 to a forwards/backward counter 11, the instantaneous contents of which is a measure of the actual travel. The counter 11 is connected, by a setting switch 6, to feed a digital store, formed of integrated switching circuits, via a logic circuit 2 which is controlled by a manual, or machine-operated selecting switch 7, having positions corresponding to modes of operating the machine. Further information is fed to the store 1 by a decade switch 5. A switch 8 governs the mode of operation of the storage arrangement and when this switch is in the setting mode the counter 11 is connected through the logic circuit 2 to a particular storage location of the store 1 and when the machine part has attained a desired position the contents of the counter 11 is read, by operation of switch 6 into the storage location and the next storage location selected by operation of switch 7. On selection of semi-automatic or automatic operation the logic circuit 2 is rendered inoperative and a logic circuit 3, connected to the store 1, rendered operative whereby the contents of the storage locations are presented to corresponding AND-gates 4. The counter 11 is also coupled to the logic circuit and when the value in the counter corresponds to the content of the appropriate storage location a control signal is applied to the machine from the respective AND- gate 4, the signal lasting until it is terminated by an order derived from the next storage location. During setting, the contents of the selected storage location is displayed, through a code converter 12, on a digital electronic indicator 13 and, during operation, the reading of the counter 11 is indicated. It is stated that times, temperatures and pressures may be similarly introduced into the storage locations and used for control of the machine.
