Abstract
1,237,029. Cancelling inductive interference. BAUM ELEKTROPHYSIK G.m.b.H. 28 April, 1969 [21 June, 1968], No. 21568/69. Heading H4R. In a telecommunications cable which is sheathed with iron or steel in which an interfering voltage induced in the cable by neighbouring power equipment is cancelled by deriving an interfering voltage from the cable core and introducing the voltage, after amplification if required, into the sheath or a conductor parallel thereto. Previously the voltage has been introduced via point cores encircling the cable, the present arrangement replaces the point core by the distributed magnetic sheath. Preferably the sheath is sectionalized and the signal introduced via a transformer, tapped to provide adjustment of amplitude and phase of cancelling voltage, or an amplifier with adjustment for amplitude and phase. Alternatively the appropriate phase may be provided by injecting the voltage into the sheath, or a conductor therein, at a remote point via a conductor extending outside the sheath with a capacitor connected in parallel or series with the loop formed by the outside conductor and the sheath in order to provide fine phase adjustment.
