Abstract

1,236,981. Ratchet clutches. HARRY FERGUSON RESEARCH Ltd. 24 July, 1968, No. 35365/68. Addition to 1,185,043. Heading F2C. The ratchet clutch mechanism described in the parent Specification is provided with a ring member 21 between the one-way clutch 27 and the disc clutch 12, the member being connected to the inner race 26 of the one-way clutch by pins 34 and having projections 35 engaged by projections 36 on the cam ring 13 if the latter tends to rotate clockwise, thus preventing jamming of the balls 17 in the hemispherical portions of the grooves 16 in the cam plates 13, 15.
