An annular dual-wheel rim spacer 10-1 has radially outwardly directed edges 31 and a circumferentially extending medial portion between said edges having one or more annular flexible ribs axially elastically compressible, so that in use when the spacer is located with its edges between and contacting the inner and outer rims of a dual-wheel and rim clamping means on the wheel are tightened, the spacer deforms elastically and maintains the rims mutually spaced apart axially of the wheel. The inner rim 11 is located on the wheel 14 by a conical flange 20, at 28 degrees to the axis, engaging a complimentary conical surface 19 on the wheel, while the outer rim 12 is maintained on the wheel by an annular clamp lug 16 which slidingly engages a belly surface 15 of the wheel to bear against a conical mounting surface 21 on the rim 12. The two rims are separated by the spacer 10-1 which has annular ribs 32 formed in its medial portion and is carried by the belly surface 15. Tightening a nut 17 on a screw 18 attached to the wheel 14 causes the nut to bear against the lug 16 to move the outer rim 12 towards the inner rim 11 and compress the spacer 10-1 by elastically deforming the ribs 32. The spacer can be made from sheet or tubular steel 0.0625 inch, or 0.125 inch thickness and the nut tightened to a torque of 190 footpounds. An alternative spacer (Figs. 3 and 4, not shown) has one rib (52) formed by two intersecting conical surfaces.
