Abstract

1,236,319. Shower cabinet bases. N. R. BERGMARK. 28 May, 1969 [30 May, 1968], No. 27105/69. Heading A4N. A shower cabinet base 1 comprises a floor 3 arched upwardly towards a central region of the floor from a gutter 5 extending along at least the greater portion of the periphery of the floor, the gutter having a water outlet 11. The base is generally square in plan view, the gutter being substantially U-shaped in section with an inner wall integral with the periphery of the floor and the gutter extending around three or four sides thereof. The bottom of the gutter may be horizontal or may slope towards the outlet which may be located in a corner of the gutter or in the centre of the inner gutter wall of one side, this side being the side opposite that side not having a gutter when the gutter extends along three sides. An outer gutter wall extends higher than the inner wall and may have a step 9 or a groove 10 formed on the inside or outside surface respectively for supporting cabinet walls. The base is supported on legs 15, 17 screwed into sockets 13 formed integrally with the inner corners of the gutter and with the central region of the floor 3 respectively, the legs being screwdriver adjusted through holes in the floor covered by plugs (19), Fig. 1 (not shown), and 21 respectively, integrally formed stiffening ribs 23 extending between the central socket and the corner sockets. Alternatively the base may be supported on a cushion of foamed plastics material placed on an adjustable stand and having an upper surface shaped to contact substantially the entire under surface of the floor 3, the ribs 23 being of simpler construction or dispensed with. A gutter portion at a cabinet entrance may form a guide for the lower part of an entrance covering curtain. With a gutter around all four sides, the gutter on one side may be interrupted or shallower at one point for the passage of a hose connected to outlet 11.
