Abstract

1,236,270. Aerials. MESSERSCHMITT BOLKOW BLOHM G.m.b.H. 19 Sept., 1968 [22 Sept., 1967], No. 44514/68. Heading H4A. An omni-directional aerial comprises a number of radiators arranged circumjacently on a body, such as a spin stabilized artificial satellite, characterized by alternate radiators being elliptically polarized at right angles and in opposite directions of rotation. It is arranged that the radiation diagrams of adjacent radiators overlap substantially at their half-power values. In one embodiment, adjacent radiators are circularly polarized, and in another, adjacent radiators are rectilinearly polarized in orthogonal directions. Use may be made of horn radiators or of dipole or helical radiators.
