Abstract

1,236,264. Steering wheels. L. LESTON. 28 Aug., 1969 [12 Sept., 1968], No. 43449/68. Heading B7J. A kit of parts for a steering wheel attachable to a steering column shaft 1 of a motor vehicle comprises a steering wheel 6 having a rim 5 and a hub portion 7 having a hole 8 which fits over a splined and tapered end portion 2 of the shaft 1. The hub portion 7 being secured on an internally splined boss 4 mounted on the portion 2 by means of three screw bolts 9. The steering wheel and boss 4 are secured on the shaft 1 by a nut 11. The screw bolts 9 pass through three parallel holes 10a, 10b and 10c, the holes being equidistant from the axis of rotation of the steering wheel and equi-angularly spaced about this axis.
