[Also in Division C4] Polyvalent metal salts of carboxylic acids suitable for use as paint dryers are prepared by reacting a solution of a carboxylic acid or alkali metal salt thereof with a polyvalent metal salt or oxide, the reaction mixture being contacted with carbon dioxide during and/or after the reaction.
