1,235,908. Method and composition for degreasing and cleaning hair. H. SCHWARZKOPF. 9 Dec., 1968 [8 Dec., 1967], No. 58307/68. Heading C5D. [Also in Division C3] A method of degreasing and cleaning hair comprises applying starch to the hair as a degreasing and cleaning agent, which starch has been chemically dyed to match the hair colouring. The dye may be an oxidation dye, a vat dye, an acid dye, a sulphur dye, a chrome or mordant dye, a direct dye or iodine. In examples starches so dyed are respectively burnt sienna, yellow, pale blue, light brown, dark blue, bluish-black or bluish-violet in colour. Specific starch compositions which are used in cleaning the hair comprise (1) an aerosol comprising rice starch dyed with a sulphur dye (light brown) in admixture with bentonite, talc, perfume, methylene chloride, ethyl alcohol and as fluid propellant a mixture of monofluorotrichloromethane and difluorodichloromethane, (2) a powder comprising rice starch dyed with an oxidation dye (burnt sienna) in admixture with colloidal silicic acid, borax and perfume and (3) a powder stick comprising rice starch dyed with a vat dye (yellow) in admixture with zinc stearate, borax, perfume, magnesium aluminium silicate and water.
