Abstract
1,235,895. Wet separating. BRITISH STEEL CORP. 7 May, 1969 [8 May, 1968], No. 21684/68. Heading B2H. A process for recovering zinc from galvanising ash formed on a metal coating bath during galvanising comprises agitating the ash in a liquid to cause separation of its impurities from its zinc particles. The ash is spread on a screen (not shown) and placed in a tank 10, and water is sprayed on to effect agitation. The ash may be screened initially in a plan sifter (Figure 1, not shown), which comprises three screens mounted in tiers on a circular arrangement of springs. Each screen is provided with an outlet for oversized particles.
