Abstract
1,235,780. Liquefied gas storage containers. APPLICATION DES GAZ. 11 Dec., 1969 [18 Dec., 1968], No. 60465/69. Heading F4P. [Also in Division F2] The discharge valve of a vertically disposed non-refillable liquefied gas e.g., butane container 1, Fig. 1, comprises an outer cup member 2 of resilient plastics material having, (1) its side wall 2b seated against an inwardly directed flange 1c surrounding an aperture formed in the container wall, (2) spaced apertures 2f, Fig. 3, formed in the cup wall 2b and (3) a closure member 2c extending axially and upwardly from the cup base in displaceable sealing abutment with a corresponding portion 3c of an inner cup member 3 of substantially rigid material e.g., metal having its wall 3b in forced sealing abutment with the resilient wall 2b; the upper wall 3e of portion 3c of outer cup 3 having a central perforable portion through which is forced screwfashion a flat needle 7, Fig. 5, carried by a discharge head 4 which needle 7 when moved downwardly unseats closure 2c to allow discharge of gas through apertures 2f, past member 2c and between a space or spaces between needle 7 and the aperture so formed in wall 3e. Prior to assembling the discharge valve in the container aperture and during filling with liquid butane, the outer cup 2 is supported by legs 2g on flange 1b as shown in Fig. 7 whilst the inner cup 3 is supported by portion 2c of cup 3. Air is evacuated through conduits 8a in a filler head sleeve 8, liquid gas is then fed through said conduits 8a into the container after which a tubular plunger 10 forces cup 3 into cup 2 and then forces the two cups into sealing abutment with the container aperture. Finally a mandrel 11 is lowered into the annular space surrounding the wall 3c and is then spread radially outwardly to provide a rib 3d in the inner cup 3.
