Abstract

1,235,455. Sound insulation. ST. JOSEPH LEAD CO. 3 Feb., 1970 [4 Feb., 1969], No. 5131/70. Heading F2X. An acoustic barrier is formed of lead sheets 10, held by lead edge connectors 12 and supported on a frame formed of horizontal and vertical braces 22, 24, respectively. The connectors 12 are secured to 22, 24 by the lead bolts 32 and spacers 34. The sheets, 10, are made of dispersion strengthened lead which may contain lead oxide in an amount of 0.7 to 16.00% by weight. The sheets are embossed to produce rigidity and one surface is roughened to disperse reflected sound waves. The connectors 12 are formed of extruded lead and to prevent the web 28 cracking due to the weight of the sheets 10, the junctions between the flanges 30, 31 and the edges of the web are arcuately formed at R.
