1,235,312. Cutting by fusion. URALSKY ZAVOD TYAZHELOGO MASHINOSTROENIA. 6 Aug., 1968, No. 37457/68. Heading B3V. An apparatus for cutting an ingot 12 into predetermined lengths 12<SP>1</SP> comprises a set of flame cutting machines 1 each mounted on rails 2 and driven along the rails by an endless chain 7. The drive is transmitted from an electric motor 3 through a gear-box and the chain 7 to idler sprockets 9 which can be clamped by jaws (10), Fig. 2 (not shown). A brake 11 is provided on each machine to hold the machine in position after adjustment. Each machine has a pair of flame torches 13. In operation all but one of the clamps is disengaged so that one machine moves with the chain for adjustment. Similarly each of the machines is moved in turn, but all may be moved together.
