Abstract
1,234,849. Rocket launcher. WERKZEUGMASCHINENFABRIK OERLIKONBUHRLE A.G. 19 Nov., 1969 [29 Nov., 1968], No. 56733/69. Heading F3C. A rocket launcher comprises a magazine chamber 1 housing a loading tray 2 which terminates in a launcher tube, a conveyer roller 4 for feeding rockets 42 laterally into the loading tray 2, a preferably pivoted closure member 7 and a preferably pivoted apron member 23, the two members being spaced above and one at each side of the axis of the loading tray 2. The closure and apron members 7, 23 form backscattering surfaces for the propellent gases from a launched rocket, the gases acting in the surface of the closure member 7 through apertures 43 formed therein, the gases exerting equal and opposite torques on the members. In the construction shown the closure member 7 is spring urged into its rest position in which strips 12, 14 thereof abut the upper surface of a rocket 42 in the loading tray 2 and is urged in an anticlockwise direction by a rocket being fed into the loading tray 2. During feeding the apron member 23 is also swung away from its rest position in which it is held by a spring- loaded pawl (Fig. 3, not shown). A cover strip 45 is provided on the wall of the magazine chamber.
