Abstract

1,234,702. Diaminocycloalkanes. UPJOHN CO. 21 July, 1969 [8 May, 1968], No. 35113/68. Heading C2C. The invention comprises compounds of the Formula I wherein R is a polymethylene C 3-7 group and B is the residue from a cyclic secondary amine group from which the hydrogen atom has been removed, and their pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition and quaternary ammonium salts. They are prepared by reducing the appropriate enamine with sodium borohydride. In examples R is 3 and both B groups are piperidino or both are pyrrolidino, or one is pyrrolidino and the other is piperidino, morpholino or one B group is piperidino and the other is 4-methylpiperazino or R is 4 and both B groups are pyrrolidino. The dihydrobromide, dihydrochloride, oxalate, fumarate and methiodide salts are also disclosed. 2 - Pyrrolidinocycloheptanone is prepared by reacting 2-chlorocycloheptanone with pyrrolidine. 2 - (4 - Methyl - 1 - piperazinyl) - cyclohexanol is obtained (as a by-product) from the sodium borohydride reduction of the corresponding ketone. Pharmaceutical compositions comprising as active ingredient a compound of Formula I together with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier are administered orally or parenterally and lower the blood sugar level and have anorexigenic activity.
