Apparatus suitable for printing on ceramic articles 36, 37 comprises an offset resilient sheet 10 supported by a frame 9 mounted on an arm 3, a table 2 supporting the arm 3 and adapted to be indexed at a plurality of stations, a screen 13 supported by a frame 12 mounted above the sheet at a printing station, a reciprocable doctor 14 arranged to force ink through the screen onto the sheet at the said station, and means for rotating the sheet through 180 degrees about the axis of the arm 3 at a second station. The table advantageously supports four arms 3-5 and (6), Fig. 2 (not shown), each provided with a resilient sheet; the sheet 38 with its printed image on its lower surface being forced into contact with an article by a resilient pad 41 at one station while the other sheets are printed, reversed &c. The pad is reciprocated by a pneumatic cylinder 39 and the articles are presented to a position beneath the pad by a rotatable table 32 carrying two supports 34, 35, said table having its shaft 33 geared to the shaft 1 of the table 2. Each sheet is supported at the printing station by a vertically reciprocable member 30 which is perforated on its top and connected to vacuum by a conduit 31. The screen frame 12 may be adjusted horizontally and vertically. Each arm is rotated by a system of chains and sprocket wheels at the intermediate station, the drive being produced by a cylinder 26. The arms are spring loaded into the end positions determined by stops, Fig. 3 (not shown).
