Abstract

1,234,402. Clutch release mechanism. POLLARD BEARINGS Ltd. 7 Oct., 1968 [4 Aug., 1967], No. 35904/67. Heading F2L. A clutch release bearing and actuating mechanism comprises an annular slave piston and cylinder device each having stepped bores so that the cylinder space 32, Fig. 2, lies between the steps of the cylinder and piston, the device being for positioning coaxially on the output side of the clutch so that the clutch output drive shaft can pass through the tubular piston and cylinder members and the piston having a thrust bearing for applying the clutch disengaging pressure. Projections 14 from a race of the thrust bearing engage between radial slots in the clutch diaphragm spring 12 so that the race is positively driven. A pressure relief valve may be included in the hydraulic circuit.
