Abstract

1,232,760. Screens; shelf brackets. PAPSCO BUILDING PRODUCTS Inc. 20 Oct., 1969, No. 51415/69. Headings A4B and A4U. A folding screen or room divider comprises sections 11, 12, 13 connected by hinges 14, 15 and lockable in open position by a key 21 inserted in passages in the tops of the sections. Each section comprises a laminated panel 32 the edges of which are received and secured by screws 47, 49 in channel-section posts 28, 29, and in H-shaped, upper and lower transverse members 30, 31, the posts and members being interlocked by engagement of lips 41 in vertical slots 52. Castors 17, 18 are mounted by a metal block (57) fitted in the posts, the central castor being spaced from the floor surface when the screen is in open position. A cover plate may be provided in the member 31 to form a conduit for electric cables, and a work top, shelf 45 or lighting fixture is mounted by brackets 26 which interlock with a channel 37 in the posts 28, 29 and comprise a onepiece T-shape member having a horizontal top plate 60, a vertical brace 61, and a hub 62 which is bored to receive a bolt 65 having a head 66 and threaded to engage a nut 68 captive in the channel 37. In modifications, the key 23 fits over the posts 29 and over the upper transverse members, or the sections are hinged in series, the keys being V-shaped.
