Abstract

1,232,644. Jaw crushers. A. G. BODINE. 13 June, 1968, No. 28266/68. Heading B2A. [Also in Division F2] A jaw crusher has a jaw 15, Fig. 2, driven by an oscillator 20 so as to have a complex motion having an up-and-down component and a component of motion toward and away from a fixed jaw 14. The oscillator comprises rotors 63, 64 so phased that one is slightly ahead of the other in its rotation cycle when driven by a motor 71. The complex motion of the jaw 15 shatters and crushes and assists in downward feed of rock 32. A single-rotor oscillator may be used, Fig. 4 (not shown) to provide a greater downward component, with jaws having a wider angle. In a second embodiment, both jaws are movable and are driven by oscillators at opposite ends of resonants bars secured to the jaws, Fig. 5 (not shown). In a third embodiment, the jaws 86, 87, Fig. 6, include built-in oscillators 80, 81 and additional resonant bars 101, 102 to enhance the downward resonant vibration component. The oscillators in the two jaws may be driven by a single motor. In a further embodiment, the jaws 86, 87 comprise tubular members which may be further fitted with protective jaw members. The jaws are supported in isolator pads 110, 111, Fig. 8, and driven in a circular in-phase motion which provides a downward pumping motion. (For Figures see next page)
