Abstract

1,232,182. Goaf stowage. COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd. 3 March, 1970 [4 March, 1969], No. 11448/69. Addition to 1,180,741. Heading E1F. An arrangement for packing debris in an underground mine comprises a conveyer 10 and a plough 20 slidably supported on the sides 12 of the conveyer, the plough having a portion 14 extending across the conveyer to cause mineral to be deflected from the conveyer into the path of a further plough portion 20 extending downwardly beyond a side of the conveyer and being so shaped as to be able to pass through the discharged debris when moving in one direction parallel to the conveyer and to cause packing of the debris when moved in the opposite direction. The further plough portion 20, which is a modified form of that disclosed in Specification 1,180,741, has, when seen from above, a configuration of a right angled triangle of which the hypotenuse is adjacent the conveyer and the shortest side face leads when the portion is causing packing of the debris. The other preferred angles of the triangle are 30‹ and 60‹. The conveyer is positioned on top of a frame having a ramp directed towards the space to be packed so that fines passing through openings in the ends of the deck plate of the conveyer are directed into the path of a scraper blade on the rear of the plough portion 20 for clearance from the path of the ram-advanced frame.
