Abstract
1,231,202. Indicating-apparatus. V.A. SHERIDAN. July 26, 1968 [July 31, 1967], No. 35089/67. Heading G1J. A measuring instrument with a dial having an arcuate graduated scale is supplied with a loose dial plate 1 having an ungraduated arcuate line 2 thereon adapted to be positioned over the instrument dial in substitution therefore and, to facilitate the transfer of selected readings taken on the graduated scale to the ungraduated arcuate line on the plate 1, a template, Fig. 2, is also supplied having pins 3, 4 to locate the loose plate 1 in symmetrical and concentric relationship with a larger scale on the template corresponding to the instrument scale, whereby graduations corresponding to the selected readings can be readily marked on the loose dial 1 with the aid of a straight edge aligned with the centre 5 and corresponding graduations on the template scale. The dial 1 may then be firmly held against the instrument dial by means of a rebated edge 6 of a transparent plastic casing or alternatively it may be located with pins. The instrument may have a housing of white translucent plastic with the graduated scale printed upon the plastic so that it can be illuminated by a lamp through a rear window.
