Abstract

1,230,763. Railway vehicle underframe attachments. F. H. LLOYD & CO. Ltd. 9 May, 1968 [16 June, 1967], No. 27899/67. Heading B7T. The resilient assembly 9 (or other energyabsorbing device) of a combined buffing-anddrawgear is disposed in a one-piece attachment comprising sides 7, rear 11 and front 4, and stops 5, 5a, the attachement being fixed vertically and downwardly offset from the underframe centre line between the central longitudinal members of the vehicle underframe and secured by the wings of the front 4 to the headstock or end sill of the vehicle underframe, so that the buffing and traction loads are transferred to the underframe at a position remote from the headstock or end sill, and bending in the central longitudinal members is reduced. The frame may be provided with extensions 12 for welding direct to central underframe members 13. The resilient assembly 9 may surround the main drawbar 8, or co-operate with a yoke.
