Abstract

A fermentation process for the production of extracellular amino acids comprises utilizing as a primary source of a 1-30 C n-aliphatic hydrocarbon feed in a broth comprising an aqueous inorganic salts growth medium, a source of assimilable N, an oxygen-containing gas, and a bacteria microorganism capable of growth on said hydrocarbon fraction in the presence of cellulose and under fermentation conditions.
