Abstract

1,230,088. Testing diodes. PLESSEY CO. Ltd. Aug.28, 1968 [Sept.22, 1967], No.43257/67. Heading G1U. Variable-capacitance semi-conductor diodes are tested to determine whether the constants defining their voltage-capacitance relationship fall within prescribed limits by measuring their capacitance at one voltage and then at two further voltages, and determining whether the second and third measurements fall within limits which are dependent on the result of the first measurement. A device for indicating the limits for the second and third measurements comprises three logarithmic scales, Fig. 1a, one for each measurement, and a cursor having the marks shown in Fig. 1b. It is shown that if the diode constants are satisfactory, when the datum mask AA is aligned with the first measurement as indicated on the middle scale, the second and third measurements will lie within the limits shown by marks B 1 B 2 , C 1 C 2 respectively, and all three measurements will lie approximately on a straight line, as 1 rather than 2.
