Abstract
1,229,881. Coating with titania. EASTMAN KODAK CO. May 2, 1968 [May 4, 1967], No.20810/68. Heading C7F. [Also in Division G2] A photographic element comprises a binder-free layer of titanium dioxide vacuum-deposited on to a support such as glass, aluminium, copper, zinc, tin, a film base of cellulose acetate, cellulose acetate butyrate, poly(ethylene terephthalate) or polystyrene, or paper or a polyethylene-coated paper. The layer may be 0À004-2À5 microns thick and may be deposited from titanium dioxide or from titanium metal in the presence of oxygen. The layer is substantially transparent. In Example 1 a flat glass support is coated with 100 mÁ thick layer of titanium dioxide at 125C. and at a pressure of at least 10<SP>-4</SP> Torr.
