A seat ring for a ball valve comprises an annulus 21 of natural or synthetic rubber with an iron core 22 and a PTFE coating or lamination 23 on its ball engaging face. The core may be of square, circular or other cross-section and is provided with a series of circumferentially spaced holes 22<SP>1</SP> to increase the bond with annulus 21.
