Abstract

1,228,655. Pneumatic conveyers. DETEXOMAT Ltd. 19 Sept., 1969 [1 July, 1968], No. 31411/68. Heading B8A. [Also in Division H1] A pneumatic conveyer includes an electric discharge device for discharging static electricity from articles being conveyed. The discharge device comprises an earth electrode 20 mounted on the surface of a member 17 of the conveyer and a high voltage electrode 18 mounted behind the member 17 which has an aperture 22 providing communication between the electrodes. Annular electrode 20 is earthed via a fixing screw 25 and a wire 24. High voltage electrode 18 which has a discharge point 19 is mounted in an enclosure 21 and is connected to a supply cable 23. The member 17 is a wall of a box (Fig. 1, not shown) provided with a suction tube and a conveyer tube e.g. from a knitting head and having a hinged flap for delivering articles, e.g. stockings. In an alternative embodiment (Figs. 4 and 5, not shown), two smooth elongated earth electrodes are mounted on the inner surface of a conveyer tube on each side of a row of apertures communicating with an enclosure containing a high voltage electrode having a discharge point adjacent each aperture.
