Abstract
1,228,036. Anaesthetic apparatus. CYPRANE Ltd. 17 June, 1969 [2 July, 1968], No. 31536/68. Heading A5T. In an anaesthetic vaporising apparatus similar to that disclosed in Specification No. 758,657, at least two valves controlled by temperature responsive means are arranged to control two outlet ports from, or inlet ports to, the vaporising chamber of the apparatus. In the embodiment described, two valves 18 (19), Fig. 2, (not shown) control two outlet ports 16 (17), from the vaporising chamber 1, the valves 18 (19), being connected to bimetallic strips 20 (21) forming the temperature responsive means. Adjustable screws 22 may be used as stops to vary the response of the traps to temperature changes. The temperature responsive means may be identical in operation, or may have different temperature responses. The valves may also be adjustably positioned on the end of the strip by means of a screw. A cap 11 may be used to divide the incoming air into a vaporising stream 14 which passes through the chamber 1, and a by-pass stream 12, both streams joining together before exit through non-return valve 32 and port 13. The lower end of a wick 2 in the vaporising chamber is immersed in liquid anaesthetic 4 in a reservoir 8 which is maintained at atmospheric pressure through a vent 36 communicating with a passage 6 in the wick.
