Abstract
1,227,750. Seats. D. E. ROWE. 5 Dec., 1968 [6 Dec., 1967], No. 55470/67. Headings A4H and A4J. A seat 1 has a base part 16 and a seat part 2 at least one of the parts comprising a plurality of panels hinged together so that when not in use the seat may be laid flat. The seat part 2, which may be cut from a blank, may be hinged at 3 to a back panel 4 which is hinged at 5 and 6 to arm rest panels 7 and 8 which are preferably reinforced by webs 10. When laid flat the seat part may form a symmetrical figure, e.g. a circle. Panels 19 and 20 of the base 16 are folded to form a support for the back and seat panels and 17, 18, 21 and 22 are folded concertina fashion to form a connection between 19 and 20. The edges of some panels may be connected by zip fasteners. The seat and base parts may be formed from separate blanks or a single blank. The panels may be of plywood with cushion e.g. of rubber fixed thereto or polypropylene. The base may be tubular.
