Abstract

1,227,356. Window and door operating mechanisms. HENRY HOPE & SONS Ltd. 10 July, 1968 [14 July, 1967], No. 32558/67. Heading E2M. [Also in Division F2] Window, door, or ventilator operating gear comprises a flexible drive cable 12 extending into a housing 10 to engage a gear wheel 14 which is rotated when the cable is moved longitudinally, a longitudinally grooved drum 15 secured for rotation with the gear wheel 14, and a chain 26 of the type is flexible in one direction only from straight, so that it can form a strut extending from the housing for connection to the window, &c to be moved, the chain being wound helically on to the drum 15. A helical wire coil 25 on the drum acts as a guide for the chain 26, the links of which have teeth 28 which engage in the drum grooves. Abutments 27 on the links interengage to prevent flexing of the chain in one direction from straight. The cable 12 has a wire wound helically round a core, to form a flexible rack which engages teeth 19 of the gear wheel 14. The cable is actuated by known means (not shown).
