Abstract
1,227,043. Brake discs. SOC. ANON. D.B.A. 1 April, 1969 [4 April, 1968], No. 16974/69. Heading F2E. A disc brake assembly comprises a brake disc 2 which is provided at its periphery on each of its faces with a cut-out portion 10 extending at least partly through the disc, the dimensions of the cut-out portions 10 being such that a brake pad 8 mounted on each side of the disc can be extracted from the assembly radially through the cut-out portion. In the construction shown each cut-out portion is of crescent shape, the inner wall 12 of which is defined by a circle the centre 14 of which is offset from the centre 4 of the disc 2. To balance the disc a groove 26 may be machined in the periphery of the disc on a centre 30.
