[Also in Divisions A4 and B3] A cleaning apparatus comprises at least one working nozzle 34 from which a jet 37 of pressurized liquid is discharged towards surface 27 to be cleaned. Guide means for the jet in the form of funnel shaped housing 26 having an outwardly curved rim 28 extends towards the surface to confine the jet and is kept by wheels 29 at a predetermined distance from the surface. In the embodiment shown a stream of particulate material 42 impinges on the surface in the vicinity of the jet.
