Abstract
1,225,344. Basic oxazine dyestuffs. FARBWERKE HOECHST A.G. 26 Feb., 1969, No. 10255/69. Heading C4P. Basic oxazine dyestuffs of the general formula wherein R is C 1 -C 4 alkyl, X is H, OH or C 1 -C 4 alkoxy; Y is H, amino, monoalkylamino or dialkylamino, the alkyl groups containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms and Z- is an anion, e.g. Cl- or ZnCl 3 -, are prepared by reacting an amine of the general formula wherein R is as above and X<SP>1</SP> is H or C 1 -C 4 alkoxy, with nitrous acid in an aqueous-acetic acid or aqueous alcoholic (the term "alcoholic" includes glycols and polyglycols) solution and condensing the suspension of the p-nitroso compound formed with a naphthol compound of general formula wherein X and Y are as above, preferably in presence of a surface-active agent, e.g. aluminium stearate or oxethylated nonylphenols.
