Abstract

1,223,798. Crates; roller conveyers. H. REHRIG. 17 April, 1969 [17 April, 1968], No. 19652/69. Headings B8A and B8P. A magnetic plate 25 (Fig. 3), fixed within or on a crate panel, receives a magnetic code pattern for routing in a material handling system. In the moulded plastics crate shown, the plate is held in a recess in the base panel 11 by a plastics cover 26, bonded in place. The magnetic plate can be divided into a number of separate sections to avoid dissipation of the magnetic code symbols by a number of narrow slots, or sets of small plates (Fig. 7, not shown) can be connected by narrow members, or separate plugs containing small plates (Fig. 10, not shown) can be inserted into holes in the base of the container. A stacking rail 28 obviates contact between the base and a supporting surface. The crate has triangular handholes, and the base has drainage holes. Crates to be coded are fed to a coding device 33 (Fig. 15) by a roller conveyer 30; they pass a stop 76 which is raised into the path of wrongly orientated crates to turn them through a right angle. The wrongly orientated crates are detected by a plunger 78 which seeks the notches 73 in the crate sides and controls the stop 76. The crates are held over the coding device 33 for a predetermined time lapse by the stop 34 controlled by the plunger 84 which locates the notch 73.
