Abstract

1,223,052. Heating or cooling vehicles. DELANEY GALLAY Ltd. 17 Feb., 1969 [12 Jan., 1968], No. 1961/68. Heading F4V. [Also in Division G3] In a vehicle air heating or cooling system, recirculation air only is supplied by a valve 11 to an evaporator during a time in which a refrigerant compressor is in operation. The valve 11 is controlled by a solenoid 12 which is in circuit with a magnetic clutch 23 through which the compressor is driven. The circuit is closed by a switch arm 16 meeting a contact 21 and by a switch 14 controlled by a thermostat 13 which is responsive to the cooled air temperature. When the switch 14 is opened, the clutch 23 is disengaged and the valve 11 permits entry of fresh air only. A switch 28 is connected to a control for an air heating heat exchanger and is open during operation thereof so that fresh air only is admitted. The switch 16, which also controls a three-speed fan motor 15, in its open position closes another circuit including the solenoid 12 so that fresh air is excluded when both heat exchangers are inoperative.
